Silence: Feel The Rhythm
Material: paper
Dimensions: 12.5x15 inches
Year: 2024
"Silence: Feel the Rhythm" is an artwork that deeply resonates with my personal exploration of the space between stillness and motion. Using seven layers of vibrant, flowing colors, this screen print embodies the delicate tension between silence and rhythm, transforming an otherwise quiet space into a dynamic visual experience. As an artist, I’ve always been fascinated by the idea that silence is not truly empty—it carries an unspoken pulse, a rhythm that moves beneath the surface. This work is my attempt to capture that subtle yet powerful energy.
The colors, each layered carefully, represent different aspects of rhythm, like echoes that ripple through time. The use of rich, deep tones alongside softer, gentler hues mirrors the way silence can shift, becoming full of potential and meaning. Each layer adds depth, texture, and emotion, transforming the space from one of mere quiet to one of vibrant stillness—a place where everything is calm yet full of life.
Drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese art, I incorporated motifs such as flowing calligraphy strokes, delicate blossoms, and intricate patterns to add an element of elegance and cultural richness. These elements speak not just to the visual aesthetic, but to the philosophy of harmony and balance that is central to Chinese artistic traditions. In Chinese culture, silence is often seen as a space of reflection, a place where true understanding can emerge. By intertwining these traditional symbols, I wanted to evoke the quiet strength and beauty inherent in stillness.
As I worked on this piece, I wanted to invite the viewer to experience the rhythm that exists in every moment of silence. Through the movement in the layers of color, and the organic flow of shapes, the artwork asks the viewer to listen not with their ears, but with their eyes and heart. In stillness, there is an invisible beat, a pulse that ties us to the world in ways words cannot describe.
In "Silence: Feel the Rhythm", I encourage the viewer to take a step back and listen to what is not being said, to notice the silent movements that happen within us and around us. I want to evoke that deep connection to the unseen, the unspoken, and the unheard—the quiet spaces where everything is at rest yet always in motion. Through this work, I hope to create a space for reflection, where silence is not simply the absence of sound, but the presence of something deeper, richer, and full of life.

The Shadow, The Middle
Material: paper
Dimensions: 12.5x15 inches
Year: 2024
"The Shadow, The Middle" serves as a profound metaphor for the delicate balance between life, death, and the spaces in between. Through its eight layers of color, the artwork delves into the transient nature of existence, symbolizing the perpetual cycle of presence and absence. Inspired by the haunting world of A Chinese Ghost Story, the piece reflects the thin, often imperceptible line that separates the living from the spirit world, mirroring our own journey through life.
The shadows that dominate the piece represent the uncertainties, struggles, and the unknown aspects of life that we constantly navigate. They evoke the quiet moments of reflection and introspection, where the boundaries of life seem blurred. The ethereal, ghostly forms capture the fleeting nature of human existence, reminding us that life is fragile and can vanish in the blink of an eye.
The introduction of gold in the final layer adds a layer of depth and richness, symbolizing moments of enlightenment, clarity, or transcendence. It indicates the moments when life reveals its hidden beauty and meaning, even in the midst of darkness. This golden hue serves as a reminder that, although we may be caught in the shadows of uncertainty, there is always potential for transformation, illumination, and connection to something greater than ourselves.
In this sense, The Shadow, The Middle does not just reflect the supernatural; it speaks to the realities of the human experience. It invites viewers to recognize that life itself is a journey through layers of experiences—both light and dark—where every moment holds the potential for revelation and growth. The artwork serves as a meditation on how the shadows we encounter shape our understanding of existence and how, even in the midst of uncertainty, there is always a path toward clarity and connection to something greater.

月色真美
Material: Cotton
Dimensions: 9x10 inches
Year: 2024
"月色真美" is a screen-printed T-shirt design that takes inspiration from a beautiful and poignant metaphor in Japanese culture. While the literal translation of this phrase is "The moon is beautiful," it is commonly used as a subtle and poetic way of saying "I love you." This design blends language, emotion, and imagery into a wearable piece of art, inviting the viewer to explore the depth of feelings that words often can't fully express.
In this design, the moon serves as a symbol of love and longing—its soft, glowing light evoking the quiet intimacy of a heartfelt confession. The simplicity of the phrase, combined with the symbolic power of the moon, allows for a layered interpretation. I wanted to capture the delicate beauty of an unspoken sentiment—something personal, reserved, and deeply meaningful. The use of the moon not only draws from its traditional representation in Japanese culture as a symbol of fleeting beauty and love, but also serves as a reminder of the quiet, peaceful moments shared between people.
For the design itself, I chose a minimalist approach to highlight the elegance of the phrase. The artwork on the T-shirt features a subtle, glowing moon in the background, surrounded by soft, muted tones. The typeface used for "月色真美" is simple and flowing, conveying both a sense of delicacy and sincerity. The overall composition creates a calming, introspective mood, encouraging viewers to reflect on the deeper meanings of love and connection.
This piece is not just a T-shirt design—it's a wearable reminder of how love can be expressed in quiet, understated ways. It invites people to reflect on the beauty of simple gestures and the emotional power that lies in the unspoken. Through "月色真美", I wanted to share a piece of cultural insight and a reminder of the emotional depth found in everyday moments.
